Listen to an AMO Visitor and MD grad from Kuwait University who matched into a residency program in North America this year. She participated in our plastic surgery virtual rotation!

Hear her thoughts on her experience and why you should rotate with AMO, too!

hi all

my name is rohan alat i'm an md

grad of class of 2020 from kuwait

university

i'm interested in a career in plastic

surgery so as you know when i say class

of 2020 it also it also means i had very

little opportunities to do electives or

rotations abroad including in the us

because of covert 19.

through amor opportunities i got that

chance to rotate virtually with dr

samuel lin and it was really great uh dr

samuel lin was always available for us

and we learned a lot about

the

speciality of plastic surgery he gave us

access to great resources we watched

surgical videos and we had discussions

with the other team members in the group

we covered topics including breast

surgery

craniofacial surgery pediatric

malformations

burn surgery hands and also gender

affirming surgery

so it was really a great opportunity

because even locally uh i had restricted

access to the ot due to cope with 19 and

i got the chance to learn more about the

speciality during this rotation

and the best part is here we are six

months later we're still in touch uh

we're doing great work together we're

going we're doing great research so i'm

very happy to have had this like life

chance to get to know

such a great mentor and maintain a long

uh relate mentorship relationship

through this experience

so yeah if you guys have any questions

you can reach out to am opportunities or

reach out to me personally

on idea or twitter it is rawan prs and

yeah everyone should really try this

rotation if they are interested not only

plastic surgery but other related

specialties it's very informative

so uh this rotation has helped me learn

more about plastic surgery and as i'm

interested in a career in academic

plastic surgery i'm very happy that i've

marched into a residency program in

north america and um i really wish the

best for everyone who's trying

to get to plastic surgery it's a great

field
